Bourgogneprijzen rijzen de pan uit. Liefhebbers zoeken het steeds vaker hier, bij de betere Cru's in de Beaujolais die vaak nog betaalbaar zijn. Bijvoorbeeld deze verrukkelijke Cru Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2018 van Daniel Bouland. Nu (2024) heerlijk op dronk en gaat nog jaren mee. Een wijn met een Bourgondische verfijning.

Jasper Morris, Burgundy Report: Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2018 "Like the 2019, a rounder more compact nose, but aeration fills out the glass more. A similar richness of texture, darker flavours, a vibration of finishing flavour that is really impressive too. Super length – that’s a great finish."

The 2018 is a deep, inky, dark expression of Morgon. It opens with a twist of youthful reduction but nothing that a decant or time in the glass doesn’t deal with. Then there is layer after layer of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, peppery spice in the background and some serious, powdery yet very fine tannins. The finish is super long and ferrous. It’s the most structured of this vintage’s four Morgons for now. Give it a good decant or five to eight years in the cellar. You will be more than amply rewarded.
